Leading Change

Change is at the heart of everything we do. Leading change is a critical business activity for any organization that expects to implement strategies that deliver business results. An organization's ability to effectively lead change has a direct impact on whether or not they succeed at addressing their issues and achieving their goals.

If you keep doing things the same way, you will ge the same results.

Most organizations understand how to run their business.  Changing the business proves a far more difficult task. We bring extensive experience helping organizations lead, architect, plan, and implement change to improve business performance and acheive goals. We work with leadership and management teams, helping them navigate through fundamental questions such as:

What needs to change?

What does it need to change to?

How will we get there?

How do we engage our people?

Addressing these questions effectively, objectively, and clearly, is harder than it may seem. Answering these questions is at the core of effective strategy making and implementation. We guide clients through a change process consisting of four broad steps:

Grasping the Situation and the Issues

The first step before changing an organization is to fully grasp the business situation, root causes of issues, and consequences of inaction. A Case for Change must be made clear and communicated, and a sense of urgency developed.  Whether the organization is addressing critical performance issues, or new market opportunities, understanding what needs to change is a prerequisite for developing a roadmap to the future.

Creating a Vision of Change

Once the case for change is clear, a compelling and desirable Vision of Change must be created that defines the future of the organization and describes what is different from today. It articulates long-term operating goals and paints a picture of the organization in terms of customers, processes, people, organization, technology, partner relationships, and performance measures.

Developing a Change Strategy and Action Plans

Change requires specific, tangible alterations made to organizational structure, processes, roles, responsibilities, technology, equipment, or performance management systems.  Developing a clear strategy for change, carried out through actions plans, with measurable short-term goals, in the right sequence, is critical for success. Specific projects that alter business operations to achieve specific outcomes must be defined, planned, and scheduled.

Managing Projects and Implementing Change

Successfully implementing change requires mobilization of resources and effective management of projects and action plans. Good strategies fail due to poor execution and ineffective change leadership during execution. For larger, or even global initiatives, a program management office may be formed to coordinate change activities and lead the change process.
